College Green has been the venue for a number of vigils, petition signing and letter writing campaigns over the years in the campaign for justice in Southern Africa.
Examples include:,There was a remembrance display for the children and those detained without trial in 1986, a 12 hour vigil in 1987 on the 5th Apriil to remind the public about those imprisoned in South Africa. There were a number of events to heighten understanding and awareness of the repressive regime and show solidarity with those imprisoned in South Africa.Letters were sent to politicians and greeting cards to political prisoners families. It was also an opportunity to sell mugs and Tshirts to help raise money for campaigns.
