Knowle West
The Knowle West on the Move layer is dedicated to the moving image, from home movies to the pioneering community television project, Knowle West TV (1973-75). Film and video can show people how landscapes have changed over time. In the moving image you may see buildings that no longer exist, shops that are now houses, and ways of living in neighbourhoods that may no longer be recognisable. In addition to recording what might be called an ‘archaeological’ landscape, these film and video archives are swiftly becoming part of the archaeological record as they gather dust in your attic or wind up in landfill. This layer will slowly emerge as more film and video collections are digitised and uploaded by Knowle West Media Centre. If you have home movies from Knowle West, please consider adding them to the map to contribute to the community’s history. The Knowle West on the Move layer is also linked to the University of Local Knowledge.
