This layer supports the mapping of Bristol music communities. Musicians, producers, dancers, fans and audiences of any genre are encouraged to pin important places and spaces of music-making to the map. These can include licensed music venues like Colston Hall, Motion or The Black Swan as well as house parties/blues, one-off festivals, recording studios, pubs, busking corners and much more. You can add pictures, posters, tickets, audio clips, or descriptions related to places you want to map. In doing so, the idea is to create and map a digital archive on Bristol’s music scenes past and present.
For Black History Month 2014, we placed a special emphasis on the importance Afrikan Caribbean music heritage of Bristol in St. Pauls. Young people from Merchants Academy interviewed participants at an event at Trinity and some extracts from these interviews can be listened to on the map.
