Robert Southey, Samuel Taylor Coleridge and George Burnett leased a house here from January to August 1795. It was whilst living here that Coleridge and Southey wrote their respective series of lectures. In the spring, Coleridge began collecting his poems for Joseph Cottle to publish (this first volume woukd appear in 1796).
